Use your blog to share new work as you complete it. Or how about as you create it? You could even show people a work in progress if you want to give your fans a “peek behind the curtain”.
You could do it just like this:

Lori Anne Youngman's show at The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse
Here is another great use for a blog. You can let people know whenever you have an upcoming show. If they are subscribed to your blog ‘feed’ they will actually get a notice that you’ve posted something new, and in this case about your upcoming show. This is a great way to make sure you next opening is a packed house, and hopefully to help you spread your art as well.
Tell people what kind of work you’ll be displaying. When and where is the show? Is it a group show? What are the hours? Is there a cost? Are there any age restrictions for who can attend?
Finally, don’t forget to add your show to the upcoming events calendar we’ve included on your site. You cannot over-communicate!
You can upload a bunch of images from the show and show them in a gallery right within your post, like so:

Welcome to My New Website
By pmstaff on October 28, 2011
When your new website launches, you are going to be excited, and you are going to want to share that with friends, family and fans.
Why not make this as an opportunity to create some content for your art blog (if you’ll be using the blog feature).
You can help new users get oriented to the site, tell them what they will find here and generally lay out the welcome mat.
