At PageMaster we want you be successful in your online marketing. We create websites and provide you training to see you succeed. This post is part of our series from our Site Training Workbook.
WordPress is an amazing platform because of its added functionality with plugins. Just about anything you want to do with a website, someone has figured out how to do it.
A word of warning: Just because they’ve figured it out doesn’t mean it will work with your theme or play nice with your other plugins. That’s why we can only support the plugins we install on your site.
You’re free to install other programs (that don’t interfere with our hosting) and here’s how you do it.
On the WP-admin sidebar find “Plugins – Add New” from here you can choose to upload a plugin you downloaded from the WordPress Plugin Directory or one you paid for at a third party. You can search the Plugin Directory right from your own back end.
Select the plugin and click “Install Now” then agree. On the next page click “Activate” and you’re done.
Now if you decide you don’t want that plugin, click on “Plugins” and find it. Click “Deactive.” After it’s deactivated you can delete it. You’ll be asked if you really want to delete it and if you’re sure, say “yes”.
Be careful not to have more than 12 – 16 plugins and know we only support the 8 or so ones we install.
