Join your host author and publisher Wolfgang Carstens tonight (Thursday February 21st) as he welcomes guests Edin Viso and Oksana Zhelisko for an evening of poetry and art.
“Edin Viso, author of Balkan Tattoo, is a poet who knows the value of a blanket, a single orange, a moment shared—this moment. He is a man who is unafraid, and who does, in the pages [of Balkan Tattoo], take off his skin and dance in his bones.”—Stephen T. Berg
Edin Viso will be reading from his newest collection, Quatro Stadgioni, and will gladly autograph copies of his Balkan Tattoo which will be available for purchase at the venue.
“Although aptly able to capture any image with an artist’s eyes, Oksana Zhelisko’s work as of late has revolved around the theme of woman in various stages, poses, and emotions. She equates her disdain of starting on a blank canvas to that of simply painting woman as an exercise in figure. In her view, woman is neither crisp nor blank, but coloured and tinged; each being an image or an iconoclast that is warm, or perhaps cold, but always strong, alluring, full of mystique, and of course, true inner beauty.”
Numerous paintings by Oksana Zhelisko will be available for viewing and purchase by anyone who wants to do so.
There’ll be an open-mic for anyone interested in sharing a poem, a story, a song, a few jokes…or whatever you want to contribute to the evening! Please phone or email for more information.
It should be an explosive evening! The fuse is lit and the time is “now!”
