How Can I Encourage People to Check out My Site?

Question

How does a person encourage people to check out a Blog? Watching your Tutorial, I learned a lot including and especially the fact that it’s important to respond. I hadn’t done so right away but have since watching this tutorial. And I’ll continue …..

Answer

There are many ways to promote your blog…both online and offline. Let’s start with a few easy ones –

Use your email footer to invite people – don’t say, “Check out my blog”, instead focus on the benefit they get for coming to your site and becoming part of the community – if you can boil your “why am I doing this?” story down to a captivating line, people are going to come check it out.

Use that captivating line in printed materials, business cards, postcards, letter labels. I tell authors to give out 3 business cards a day. It’s a good way to keep thinking about marketing.

More complicated ways include – Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, StumbleUpon, Pinterest- btw the majority of users of Pinterest are female mothers — 28 percent have a household income of $100k+. Sounds like a good target for your art to me.
