ShopPageMaster.ca is up and operational and many of the titles that we have signed agreements for are available for sale on it. Our authors need to help us get the word out. Here are 12 Online Marketing Tips to help you do just that.
1. Check out your Listing
Go to PageMasterPublishing.ca and search for your book. You can search the title in the search bar or the find your name in the Author drop-down list. Let me know if you have trouble finding your listing.
2. Check your sales copy.
Wolfgang Carstens has done up an excellent article on Writing an Effective Author Biography that you should check out before you update your copy and you may want to improve upon the teaser or book description as we had to grab what we had available. Use a simple elevator pitch for your description –
This book helps (this group of people)
Do (this benefit)
Even if (worst case believable scenario)
So an example for one of my books would be:
This book helps people going through seasons of change
Know how to hope in a way that’s beyond wishful thinking
Even if they’ve lost relationships, struggle with health or are having real trouble with finances.

3. Sign up as an Affiliate

4. Make note of your URL
We’ve made a clean URL for your book. Copy it and keep it someplace safe. If it’s simple enough you can tell people about it. If you want us to make it more simple for you, let us know as it may be possible to do just that.
5. Enlist your friends
Get your friends to help you market your book. If they’ve read it and have an opinion, ask them to leave it in the comments on your landing page. If they’re on Twitter, ask them to use the buttons to tweet it out. If they’re on Facebook, don’t be bashful about asking them to Like it.
6. Tweet out to your Twitter following. We’ve integrated it on your book landing page.
7. Like your landing page on Facebook. This is integrated as well.
8. Let people on your newsletter list know about your book on ShopPageMaster.ca. Most of your sales will come through your newsletter list.
9. Get business cards, book marks or postcards made up with your URL. Be sure to hand out at least three every day.
10. Blog about your book and where to get it. Let us know you did and we’ll talk about it on our blog.
11. Do up a video talking about your book and upload it to YouTube. Put your URL in the description box and annotate the video if you know who to.
12. Put the link to you book in your author bio when you write for print media or blogs.
