Adding links to your content makes it more interactive, and it can be very helpful to direct your visitors to the right place after reading your content, or for more information. Assuming you are viewing the Content Editor, follow these steps;
- Select the text (or image) that you want to make into a link. You can simply drag over a selection with your mouse, or use a combination of the SHIFT and ARROW keys to select your text.
- Click the Link button. It looks like a bit of chain. The Insert/Edit Link window pops up.
- You simply fill in the fields with the relevant information; ??URL: This is the web address you’d like the link to take a user to when they click it. It can be the location of a Page or Post on your own site, or it can be ANY site on the internet.??Title: This is helpful for users with Screen Readers (the visually impaired, for instance) and for search engines. It will also display for any user who hovers over your link with their mouse in a modern browser.??Open link in a new window/tab: Check this if you want the link to open a new window/tab for the user automatically, rather than replacing the page they are viewing with the page the link will take them to.??OR LINK TO EXISTING CONTENT??You can also search for and select any Page or Post on your website, and the above fields will automatically be filled in based on your selection.
- Click Add Link. Your link is created.
To remove a link:
- Place your cursor anywhere within the link.
- Click the Unlink button
To edit an existing link:
- Place your cursor anywhere within the link.
- Click the Link button
- Edit and save your options as desired.
